That whole 'tHeRe'S tOoOoOo MaNy Bridgerton CHILDREN! EIGHT OF THEM!!' random bit that Cressida's mum does is just so strange... that is not a lot of siblings/children for that era. For them all to survive to adulthood, yeah, lower odds, but HAVING that many??? Not at all weird.

So like the very normal person I am I did some research into viscounts in 1815 and their family sizes and now you get a history lesson. I excluded all the viscounts that were subsidiary titles to Earls, Marquesses, and Dukes. So that means no honourary titles, and left only people of an equal rank to the Bridgerton family. According to wikipedia there were only 20 Viscounts like that existing in 1815 (some titles went extinct later in the year, or gained a higher title, but oh well I included them) and I did my best to find the number of legitimate siblings and children they had.

8 out of 20 were either part of, or had, a family of 8 or more children. That's 40% and the majority of those included 10 or over kids.

12 out of 20 were from/had families of 6 or more kids. 60%.

And I couldn't even find information on them all! At least five more could potentially get to that threshold.

One had 13 kids and 8 siblings

(and an earl who was also a viscount had SEVENTEEN kids but he's not included in the maths)

So the number of Bridgerton kids is a non-issue, people tended to have either large families or very small families. 8 over 17 years isn't even that quick for the time?? A lot of women would be pregnant more often than Violet Bridgerton. No one would be shocked or surprised by that, let alone think it something salacious...

AND IF WE'RE TALKING ABOUT SCANDALS INVOLVING THE BIRTHS OF A VISCOUNTS CHILDREN

May I introduce you to Henry Devereux, 14th Viscount Hereford?? BECAUSE ASIDE FROM ABANDONING HIS FIRST WIFE TO LIVE ON THE CONTINENT WITH HIS MISTRESS, MARRYING BIGAMOUSLY TO A DIFFERENT MISTRESS, AND HAVING LOTS OF BASTARDS... THE MOTHER OF FOUR OF HIS BASTARDS AND THE MISTRESS HE RAN TO THE CONTINENT WAS HIS HALF-SISTER AND YES THEY BOTH KNEW!!

So, uh, in conclusion not one person would ever find the amount of kids Violet and Edmund Bridgerton had to be surprising or scandalous
